Homeschoolers
Give your child a "head start"
| Hello homeschoolers, welcome to
Nail It Now |
Homeschoolers have a BIG advantage over teachers. YOU make the decisions and YOU are the only
teacher |
Schools have many decisionmakers and teachers. Can you imagine persuading them all of the benefits of a) trying an innovative typing
method that seems too good to be true, b) placing removable, sticky dots on the alpha keys of computers so there's no peeking
(Yes, we believe this is the single most important thing you need to do before
teaching children to touch type) and c) expecting and reinforcing proper keyboarding in all computer use (some teachers would
care and others wouldn't) |
First, your children (aged 5 years and over) learn the letters on the keyboard and
correct finger use (this takes under 2 hours): |
| o |
The Home row: children repeat aloud two
simple sentences "Animals in the Snow Dig for Food like Grass" and "The Semi-truck's Lights made the Kangaroo Jump High"
as they type the letters in Microsoft Word |
| o |
In 5 minutes, your child will type the words add as dad fad gad gag gas
sad sag
without looking at the keyboard, giving him/her a "Wow, I can do this" feeling and they
will WANT to learn more |
| o |
The top and bottom rows: children repeat aloud
five sets of association words for each hand, eg, "Food Raw Vegetables" and "Jump Up Mountain", as they
type the letters |
. . . and, then, they practice using word-pattern exercises that contain regularly repeated letters
to assist familiarity |
Homework could be typing one exercise page per day. There are two key pages
(LEFT and RIGHT sides) that contain all the association words you can use to prompt your children
if they forget the location of a key and to revise the method at the kitchen table, while you are cooking dinner |
Proper keyboarding should then be expected and reinforced in all computer use |
Your child has the opportunity to develop proper keyboarding habits
that will last a lifetime, enhance his/her ability to word process assignments
and improve language arts skills |
Your child needs to know how to touch type |
| Most Education Standards
require students to know proper keyboarding positions and touch-typing techniques by the end of Grade 5 |
Act NOW
To wait is to deprive your child of a foundational skill |
"Keyboarding should absolutely be introduced early. It is difficult to break a bad habit.
Once children learn to hunt and peck, they truly believe that there is no other comfortable way to type" |
Traditional software methods are not
especially suitable for young children |
"Even AFTER several weeks of an introduction to proper fingering technique, when they play the games that are supposed
to reinforce those lessons, most children will drop everything they've learned about proper fingering and just revert
to two-finger pecking to GET POINTS (or whatever quick rewards the game offers)" |
"I just taught my 11 year old (who gets BORED with ANY repetitous task and gives up or whines
and even cries wanting to stop). But after about a minute on your preview sample, HE CONTINUED effortlessly,
for the first time. WE BOTH enjoyed each other, me teaching him and him learning it! I kept looking at other
typing tutors the internet had to offer, but they
did not compare to your method!" |

Mrs Nilda Bienes, Casselberry, FL USA had this to say after trying the
